Inspire: to affect, guide, or arouse by divine influence. to breathe life into.
Inspiration can be found all around us. There is always extraordinary in the mundane... If you look closely enough, everyday sights that wouldn't ordinarily be considered attractive or engaging can suddenly be transformed into art.
The images I capture are not staged or manipulated in any way. These are photographs of what we see and ignore daily... resurrected as art.
"My work is about composition, texture and typography. People have a tactile reaction to my artwork," Hersh says. "They want to touch them." Preferring a boxlike composition rather than the traditional frame, "I build the boxes (frames) by hand, painting the edges and gluing the print to the surface. I then apply an acrylic matte gel medium to the print that protects it and gives the print a matte, textured surface. The process reinforces the resemblance of the images to paintings."
